ENSLAVER-DyerDyer, Nelly— Choctaw/Chickasaw, lived on Yalobusha River in LeF1ores district in 1831, her household consisting of seven persons, including two children under 16. She was enrolled for removal with the Chickasaws in 1837, and sold S23, 24, 25, and the N½ S13 T1 R10W in DeSoto County on September 7 of that year (1). She was on the 1839 Chickasaw census as “Nealle Dyer”, her household consisting of three males under 10, one male 20—50, one male over 50, one female 10—20, and one female 20—50. She then owned three slaves. She was paid in Choctaw scrip by May 6, 1843 (2). The 1855 census shows her as a resident of the Chickasaw District, with Emeline and Line in her household. She was listed as living alone on the 1858—1860 Chickasaw annuity rolls. A list of Nelly's children in 1834 shows Pallas Oxberry, George Oxberry, Cyrus Oxberry, and Polly Ann Oxberry, all over 10 years old, and Lucinda Dyer and Jeremiah Dyer, all under 10 (3). The record of her scrip payment in 1843 shows that at that time only Jeremiah was under 10 (perhaps referring to the year 1831) (4).
