Beyond the sun set’s radiant glow
There is a brighter world I know.
Where golden glories ever shine,
Beyond the thoughts of days decline.
Elwood Christian was born April 25,
1909, in
Newport
,
Oklahoma
, to Mr. and Mrs. Karo Christian. He was the fourth child born to
this union.
Being reared in the
Newport
community, he confessed a hope in Christ and united with the
Jehovah
Baptist
Churc
h
and was baptised (sic) under the pastorate of the Rev.Adkinson.
He was united in Holy Matrimony with Bennie
Wright, October 1969. No children were born to this union.
He and his wife moved to
Lawton
and united with the St. James Baptist Church. He remained a member
at St. James until his death, Wednesday, August 24, 1983, in the Southwestern
Hospital, Lawton, Oklahoma.
Preceded in death by his wife, 3 sisters and 3
brothers, he leaves to mourn his homegoing 1 brother, Willie Christian,
Los Angeles, CA; 3 nieces: Johnnie Benjamin and Ruby White, both
of Ardmore, Barbara Adair, Los Angeles, CA; 5 nephews: Thurston
and J. D, Ligon, Ardmore, Warren Ligon, Wallace and Jimmie Christian
and several other relative and friends. —
