Gloria D. RobinsonGloria
Denise Robinson nee Malone has a Great-Grandmother who was on the approved
membership roll opposite number 3912 as a Choctaw Freedman.
Her name was Rose Love. Based on
this ancestor Gloria has developed an interest in the educational history of the
Choctaw Freedmen with an emphasis on the Bryan County State of Oklahoma at the
Normal Institute. Her
Great-Grandmother, Rose Love eventually graduated from Tuskegee Institute with a
diploma in teaching. “I
would like to put these pieces of information together and learn about the
freedmen. How they came to be and
why my Great-Grandmother features are the way they are.”
“I am
interested in the schools since I have this treasure that in 1915 Rosa Love
received good grades. I also would
like to know more about the land and its demise that belonged to my long lost
relative.” Like
many researchers and genealogist of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen, the
knowledge of their ancestors has proven to be a wonderful enlightenment about
their family’s history. Gloria’s self discovery will bring passion to the
project and a thirst for knowledge that one finds when discovering our ancestors
were more than mere names on a list as we look to restore the humanity they
richly deserve.
