It will be interesting if a researcher can research all of these people who basically formed one of the earliest census records for Choctaw Freedmen and connect them to the generation of freedmen who would later enroll with the Dawes Commission in 1898?

Records like House Miscellaneous Document 46 (42nd Congress, 2nd Session) is another significant document that allows us to explore the history of the Choctaw "Freedmen" with all of it's nuances. 

We begin to see the Choctaw Freedmen understood their plight in the Choctaw Nation and were proactive once they were able to actively press the issue of their freedom, citizenship, and land ownership.
