Chickasaw Citizenship "by blood"
The 1896 Applications for citizenship in the Choctaw and Chickasaw nations
are a part of National Archives Record Group 75 and also known as the M1650
microfilm files.
These records can offer more information about individuals and family members
that researchers should be aware of to determine if additional material can be
located.
There is a freedmen section to the applications but it should not be
overlooked that an ancestor could be located in the so called blood records.
An index to these records exist and is in alphabetical order according to the
"blood" or "freedmen categories."
