The
Oklahoma Slave Interviews provide a first person account of the life experienced
by our ancestors enslaved in The
Interviews provide and preserve this unique history and when added to the
interviews conducted by the Dawes Commission family history researchers are
provided a rare glimpse into the lives of people who had been marginalized by
historians that write about the history and institution of slavery among the
Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek and Seminole Indians. The
Indian Pioneer Papers can be accessed at the Oklahoma Historical Society in Terry
